Yes

Is the "live" requirement waived for 2023?
A:

No.
In 2023, half of the required credits for Regular Licensed attorney's will need to be done in-person. 14-404(a)(1).

Q:
What are the credit requirements for the two-year MCLE cycle?
A:

Your MCLE requirement is 24 hours of Utah approved CLE, to include 3 hours of legal ethics, one of the 3 need to be in professionalism/civility.

What are the credit requirements for the one-year MCLE cycle?
A:

Your CLE requirement is 12 hours of Utah approved CLE, to include 1 hour of legal ethics and 1 hour of professionalism/civility. 14-404(a)(3)

When do I need to comply?
A:

Every year on or before June 30 the credits must be completed. Compliance paperwork and filing fee must be paid by July 30.

Why do I have (R) Rejected credits?
A:

If you have an event that has been rejected, please contact the provider.

Q:
Do I qualify for a Comity certificate?
A:

If you are currently in compliance in Utah you can use the certificate as verification of compliance. Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington have reciprocity….$25 processing fee 14-404(d)

Q:
Can my credits from another jurisdiction count in Utah?
A:

When it comes time to comply, and you have acquired the required credits, we will accept an out of state transcript that represents the credits that were accepted in another jurisdiction.
Rule 14-416(a)(1)
The report from the other state would need to show from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2022: the date the program was completed, name of the program, and credits awarded. List the programs on the Certificate of Compliance that you would like to be recognized and we will manually count your credits.
An invoice will not be created because the credits will be counted manually and not in the database. You will need to call in with the mandatory compliance fee.
Don’t forget you will need a Professionalism/Civility credit to comply in Utah. Not all states requires this specialty.

Q:
Why are some of my credits blank on the MCLE report on the Practice Portal?
A:

The data base we use had a glitch in it, showing credits that were not approved, but showed in the drop-down report as “blank” credits. Please refer to the PDF transcript. It is a more accurate report and hides the non-approved credits.
